BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION PART 1

Tomorrow is my twentieth birthday and since it falls on the dreaded Monday and all of the family is home, we celebrated over the weekend. I am kind of high maintenance (kind of ;)) so we celebrated ALL day Saturday with lots of sweets, lots of pink, and lots of the things that make help define me!
Nathan and Lindsey came home from their college on Friday. We spent the evening at home and then decided to take a trip to Ulta (that didn't last long for them.. they ended up at Metro Shoe Warehouse), and Cane's (we may be a little addicted to their sweet tea).
On Saturday, we slept in (ahh the beauty of not having to wake up for school or homework!), woke up somewhere near ten, and began to get ready for the day. My mom and sister left for an 'appointment' (mmmhmm..) and I enjoyed the time I got to play with my hair and makeup... A girl has to get dolled up on her birthday, right??
Wearing my BaubleBar necklace (seen on Lindsay & Whitney's blog)
& my tunic from Necessary Clothing

They came home and told me to come outside (I love surprises! So I was all for this!)

They bought me the absolute cutest cake from Nothing Bundt Cakes in OKC. We waited until Saturday night to eat it, but let me tell you that it is the yummiest cake we have ever had. A white chocolate raspberry cake. So good.

My bedroom has the best lighting, so bear with me on the photos. ;)
Lindsey bought me the new Gucci perfume, Bamboo, and I die with how amazing it smells. My hairstylist had it on one day and I have pretty much stalked the Gucci section in Ulta ever since she told me what she was wearing. Lindsey's birthday is in a couple of weeks, so I'm going to have to up this gift. I don't know how that's possible, though. This gift was perfect.

As much as I love my Urban Decay 'Naked' palettes (I have 2 & 3), I love my Tarte 'Showstopper' palette. I mentioned in my Favorites post about my love for Tarte, but I'll say it again. Tarte is AH-MAZING. Such beautiful products! My gifts from my parents (my mom sure knows what to buy me!) were the Tarte Energy Noir palette and Lip Surgence. The purples in these are stunning. STUNNING. I'll do another post to show you how beautiful they are.
I really do have the best family.

I had to get good pictures with the cake and added the products in with it to get the 'perfect' Instagram picture, but I hope with these you can see just how darling it is. If you are in the OKC area or Tulsa area, do yourself (and your families) a favor and eat one of these cakes. They come in minis too!
I have a feeling being twenty is going to be 'sweet'! ;)

THE FAVORITES

I'm a huge fan of beauty products.
I believe that women should feel beautiful each and every day. Whether that means going through life with little to no makeup or wearing all the products she wants, I believe that a woman should enjoy the way she looks no matter the opinions people will say about her. I'm the type of woman who loves to wear makeup even to grocery store (..especially to the grocery store! You never know if you'll meet your future husband there, right? ;) ) I watch YouTube tutorials in my free time and I pin tutorials on Pinterest in case I can't watch them until later. I definitely can not do makeup or hair nearly as well as those creative and talented ladies, but it's fun to try!

I'll buy products from any place I find something that catches my eye. Target, Ulta, Sephora, CVS, and so many more! Ulta is my favorite of the list. I can spend hours in that place and I mean HOURS. I like to do some research on products before purchasing and then go shopping & test products out.
Today, I'm sharing with you a few of my favorite products that I cannot go a week without using. They were on the higher end of which brands go, but I really do believe that they are worth the purchase!

Tarte Cosmetics have recently become my absolute favorite brand as for where makeup goes. I tried out their Amazonian butter lipsticks first and the love grew from there. I have short eyelashes, so I decided to invest in a nice eyelash curler and of course I gravitated towards the Tarte section in Ulta. The eyelash curler came with a travel size mascara in their most popular mascara: Lights, Camera, Lashes. I bought the two together for less than $20 and I am so glad I did! I also purchased the Pureology Hydrate shampoo in the travel size to try it out. I love it! I love how my hair feels fresh and soft after using it. It is very hydrating, so only a small amount goes a long way.

The most popular trend that seems to be happening this year are the eyebrows. And I am so glad that it's acceptable to fill in eyebrows. I used a covergirl brow pencil for the longest time and finally decided to try the Anastasia brow wiz pencil! Seriously. I will use this even if I do nothing else to my face. It has changed my life. I guarantee it will change yours, too!

Last, but not least, the ultimate favorite: Kenra 25 Volume Spray. I could stop right there and just tell you to go get this miracle worker, but I'll tell you a little about it in case you haven't heard how incredible it is. It's incredible. It holds hair in place all day long and keeps hair in check for the next day as well. It's not too difficult to brush out, either. I first heard of it through Kate's blog and then through Amber's blog. Since both women are my top two favorite bloggers, of course I bought it! ;)
Go purchase it. You won't be sorry.

HELLO!

Hello Beautiful! I'm Marissa. Welcome to my world!
I'm a college student from a small town in Oklahoma. I'm a daughter, a sister, & I would love to be your friend!
I have a deep love for all things girly and beautiful and I'm quite sure that's not going to change anytime soon! I began following bloggers on Instagram when I joined the Insta community while in high school. I fell in love with all kinds of new styles as I scrolled through pictures and blogs. I knew instantly that my dream would be to have a blog myself and someday be known as "a blogger." It only took me a couple of years to create my blog, but alas, it's here! I'm not a very photogenic girl, but I do have a passion to write (probably a good thing that my major is in English) & a passion for style! I shop a lot. Like A. LOT.  - Some people call it an addiction... I call it my life. -  In this blog, my hopes are to share with you the things that I love. I am a product junkie and I'm not afraid to admit it. I'll share with you products of all kinds --hair, makeup, jewelry, you name it!-- Starting a blog is both exciting and scary to me, but I know it is just the thing I need! I cannot wait to share my little world with you!
xoxo, Marissa
