BLACK FRIDAY - MACY'S

After previewing Macy's Black Friday sale, I am determined to buy some kitchenware! There are so many options! The prices are so good, too! The sales are over 50% off, making many items over $100 dollars cheaper! Girls, get to shopping! :)

FALL SHOE CRUSH

Shoe shopping can either be tons of fun or a serious pain. I find shoe shopping for the fall is on the fun side! They can be pretty pricey, though, and that is where it gets tricky. Each year, I choose just one pair of shoes for fall, so that I don't have to pay a lot of money. The booties that I have now were bought about four years ago, so I know it is time for a new pair!
I'm not sure I can pick a favorite from these options just yet, so we will all be surprised by which ones I actually buy! They are all so cute! If you have a favorite pair, send me a link or a picture! ;)

Whatever you end up with this fall, I hope you have fun shopping!

MY PINK LILY FAVORITES - FALL 2019

Do you love shopping at boutiques? I adore them! I love to spend my Saturdays browsing boutiques with my mom. I also love browsing their shops online. Pink Lily is one of my favorite online shops. Their items are always perfectly in style with the season. They keep their prices affordable, which is helpful for this post college/new teacher budget.
I am sharing my top favorites from this fall below. Grab a cup of tea, click through my faves, and have some fun shopping!

Current Beauty Favorites / Spring 2019

It has been a while since I've given you my favorite beauty items, so since spring is coming to an end and summer is coming close, I thought this would be a good time to show my top favorites. Some of these are favorites I've had for a long time and some are new! If you're interested in shopping for some new makeup, I hope this post is helpful!

One: The classic beauty sponge. Well, not the "classic" classic - that would be the Beauty Blender. This is the dupe/cheaper version. And it works AMAZING. It is less than $10 and you can find it at many places: Amazon, Ulta, and Target are probably your go-to stores. It is great for your concealer, foundation, contour, powder, and really just about whatever you need it for when applying your makeup. Run it under cold water, squeeze the water out, and bounce the sponge on your face (don't swipe it across your face) to apply your makeup.

Two: This mascara is the dupe/cheaper version of the Too Faced Better than Sex mascara. It makes your lashes look longer and fuller. Every girl on Insta and Pinterest is talking about it. I bought it recently and yes, I love it, too!

Three: The contour palette. There are many so many to choose from, but this one can't do wrong. It's a little bit pricey, but worth the investment. I've had mine for a year and a half, use it every day, and still have so much product remaining!

Four: This shimmery blush is so insanely beautiful! I just bought it this past week and holy cow, it is perfect!

Five: My classic, go-to, never fails me, face powder. My mom uses it and won't use any other powder. I've tried several kinds and always come back to it because it never fails to fix my makeup.

Six: MAC lipsticks are my all time favorites. Here are my three top favorite colors: Lovelorn (light pink), Velvet Teddy (nude), and Girl About Town (magenta). I'll try making a post of MAC lipsticks and summer lipsticks soon!

Seven: Brow Pomade. A friend recommended this to me years ago and I never made the purchase. But I finally did and I'm so glad I did! It has lasted me for months so far and I still have more than half the container left. So stinking good!

Eight: Another new purchase that I'm obsessing over. The colors are beautiful and the pigments are incredible! I feel like my face looks more refreshed with these eyeshadows on. A little pricey (most eyeshadow palettes are), but still cheaper than the Urban Decay ones, so that's good!

Nine: Rose water facial spray helps to keep your face hydrated, refreshed, and keeps your makeup on longer. This bottle is $7. A makeup setting spray that does similar things costs over $20. I highly recommend this one!

Ten, Eleven, and Twelve: Hair products that I love! Moroccan Oil is my ultimate favorite hair product. I just have to be careful about buying it since it is over $40. Perfect for a Christmas gift ;) Aquage Uplifting Foam is the best root lifting foam out there, in my own opinion. A southern girl has to have big hair, right? And finally, Living Proof restoring spray. This helps to smooth out my hair and prepare it for blow drying. Really, any Living Proof product is going to be fantastic! Check out their dry shampoo. You're welcome. :)

Whew, that was a long post, but I hope it was helpful and fun! You can shop all the products below OR follow me in the LIKEtoKNOW.it app under Simply Miss Mariss.

MODEST & ADORABLE WORK WEAR

I've always been a huge advocate of all things modest, so when I found this shop through Instagram, I fell in love immediately! Whether I'm searching for work outfits or girls' night out outfits, I search for something cute, stylish, and of course, modest!

Inherit is a shop that shares the message of modest, joyful living through your style. They put a lot of thought into what they bring to their brand and customers. As soon as I got this package, I loved it! And then I opened it to find the most beautiful packaging and planning of the item.  The fabric and ruffles on this top are just beautiful! The neutral coloring allows you to pair it with many different accessories. There are SO many ways to style this top!

*shameless bathroom selfie to show you the softness of the coloring of the top*

Every time I put on this top, I feel like I'm ready to take on the day (& night)! I wore it out to dinner for my dad's birthday and paired it with a denim skirt from LOFT. Tuck it in or leave it out, it is such a classic look!
Below, I paired it with some Pixie pants from Old Navy. I wear these pants to work every week and I know I need another pair! I love pairing tops like this one with classic black pants. Add some cute earrings and you're good to go!

One extra tip: Throw on a denim jacket (I've linked several below!) to dress your outfit down for a night out or for a casual/cute daytime outfit! Grab your bag and hit the town!

Something to take away from today: Remember, in order to feel beautiful, you NEVER have to compromise what you believe! You can find fabulous, in style, and affordable items that display your personality. When you find those items, wear them and show the world your love and joy! Lovely girl, always stay true to YOU.

Spread love and spread joy!

VALENTINE'S DAY DECOR

If you've been following for a while (or if you know me in person), then you know that Valentine's Day is my favorite day in the year! Stores are filled with all things pink, red, and girly! Everywhere you look, you see something that screams LOVE! All I had to do to decorate this year was add this cute pom pom strand! Easy peasy!

Do you decorate your home for VDay? Whether you do or not, I gathered some of my favorite things and linked them here below, so you can shop for decorations for this adorable holiday or just for fun!

How I Style My Short Hair

Short hair can be so much fun to style, but can be tricky sometimes, too! My biggest secret? I have watched so many YouTube videos on styling short hair and adding that volume over the years! Kate from The Small Things Blog is my favorite beauty gal and you've probably noticed I've talked about her many times on here. She has really taught me a lot when it comes to getting the right hair style. If you are not following her, go do that after reading this post! :) Click here for her Instagram.

Let me say, I am not a beauty expert, but I think I've found a few good tips to share with you!

  •  First, a root boost can be your best friend! (Or at least it is mine!) I find that my hair works best when there is product at the root for it to get that "lift." The Aquage Uplifting Foam is a game changer. I have yet to love anything more! (Tip: I always try to use the 20% off coupon from Ulta!)
  • Second, Dry. Shampoo. This is great because it is a dry spray that adds texture. If you have clean hair, your hair might not work well the first day, so adding a bit of dry shampoo to your hair will help your style to stick. Plus, you might be able to get away with an extra day of not washing your hair!
  •  Third, I like to use a straightener to get my curls. Some girls prefer curling wands for their waves, but my hair sticks best with the straightener. Unless if my hair stylist does my hair, then she will use a wand, but I use the straightener on myself. I leave my very bottom layer of hair, the layer closest to your neck, straightened. No one will know it's not curled ;)

My biggest tip for this part is to STRAIGHTEN YOUR ENDS! I straighten the ends before I begin curling and it makes a big difference! I just straighten about an inch of the ends of my hair and I get those cute waves.

  • Last, I tease the roots! Backcombing/teasing/ratting, however you want to call it, adds that extra volume and helps your hair to not be too flat on your head. Here is a link to a great tutorial that taught me! After you tease, try raking your hands throughout your hair (slightly!) to loosen those waves!

Follow up with your favorite hairspray! My current favorite is less than $5! My mom is hooked on it, too! It's so good!

I hope you have enjoyed this post! If you have any questions or need any extra tips, feel free to reach out! And if you have any tips to share, please do! I'd love to learn more!

Let me know your favorite hair product in the comments on here or on this Insta post!

OLD NAVY TRY-ONS

Starting this try-on by showing you my FAV! This striped peplum blouse is alll the heart eyes! I was worried about the stripes because of my larger frame in the top of my body, but it really looked great! I went with my normal size (Large) and it fit perfectly!

Here is the purple one in the same top! I loved this one just as much! I might have to grab both ;)

This coral sweater is all the rage right now! I've seen several bloggers pick this one up and it really is as cute in person as it is on their Instas! I layered it with a gray sweater because coral and gray are always a great combination!

This white sweater was incredibly comfortable! And cute! The picture does not do it justice. It came in many different colors, so you can snag one for multiple days of the week!

This sweatshirt was so warm and perfect that I did not want to take it off! I have one from the fall in the green color, but you know how much I love all things blush! Perfect for transitioning into spring weather!

That is all! I hope you enjoyed shopping Old Navy with me! :) I can't wait to go back and try on all of the spring options! Spoiler alert, there's a TON!

LOFT Try-Ons

January LOFT try-on:
This pale gray and pink striped sweater was my favorite top from this month's new items!
It felt cozy and perfect to throw on with jeans & sneakers or jeans & booties!

I have a jacket just like this gray one below (but mine is in an oatmeal color from two years ago) and I love to wear it with leggings and sneakers! I highly recommend it!
This bright green sweater caught my eye immediately! It is so fun! I could not resist trying it on!

Loved this striped blouse! The sleeves and the flowy-ness of the top were exactly how I like my blouses. Perfect for work and even for a date night!

This Lou & Grey sweatshirt was SO SO comfy! I did not want to take it off! I would pair it with leggings and black sneakers! But it also works with jeans and booties if you want to dress it up!

This. Scarf. Enough said. Just look at that pretty pink!

And my ultimate favorite:

Look at those cute little black hearts! This dress is perfect for Valentine's Day or for any girly girl to wear on date nights or girls nights!
