GIRLS NIGHT OUT MAKEUP LOOK

When I go out with the girls (a lot of that time being with my mom and sister), I really enjoy getting dressed up and having fun with the look I not only wear by my clothes, but by my makeup as well. Makeup is fun because you can create so many varieties with it. You can go from looking soft and neutral to bold and edgy just by adding some darker colors to your eyes and lips, just like you can with clothes by adding a denim jacket or some black stilettos to your look. I really do love applying makeup and I like to think of it as a time of having fun!

Tonight, I've put together a collection of makeup items that are great to keep on your vanity to make your evening look fit for a girl's night out.
Have you heard of the new Tarte eyeshadow palette? If you haven't, I suggest you head on over to Tarte's website and Instagram to see it because holy cow, it is beautiful. The palette is Tartelette in Bloom (Tarte's second Tartelette palette). The colors are absolutely perfect for the girly girl (or any girl, really!) and are fun to apply!

To make these neutral and pink colors pop, I used Younique's mascara gel and fibers. Until about two weeks ago, I had never used Younique. Of course, I had heard of the brand, but I never did reach out to try it (I really loved my Tarte mascara, so I didn't need to pay anymore money for a mascara unless it was a drugstore brand). Let me tell you what I think about Younique: it is awesome. Does the mascara actually make my eyelashes look longer? Yes. BUT, not noticeably longer. I can tell that my lashes look longer than normal, but mostly because I stare in the mirror at the difference. What I love about the mascara is that it gives my eyes a bit of a pop. My eyelashes look darker and bolder, not longer. But that is okay with me! :)

Here is my bare face. I am only wearing my Arbonne moisturizer.

I started out my makeup routine by applying my Arbonne moisturizer and my Clinique primer. I then applied my Arbonne foundation (in Soft Blush) and added some blush and highlight from my Tarte contour palette. I then added my eyeshadow primer and eyeshadow from my Tartelette palette, filled in my eyebrows, and then added some black eyeliner to my inner lids.

Once my eyeshadow was all in place, I took out my Younique mascara gel and fibers and followed the directions that my friend, Lorinda, advised me to follow:
  1. Apply an even coat of the GEL to lashes. (It is better to do one eye at a time in this process.)
  2. Immediately after the Gel, apply the FIBERS.
  3. Seal the fibers with the GEL.

  • Repeat until you've reached your desired fullness.
  • Focus on the tips of the lashes (for a longer effect).
  • Wait just a few seconds after the Gel and Fibers application (this allows the fibers to fully stick to the gel/lashes).
  • Wipe the Gel wand and Fiber wand on the base of the tube (like you would for any mascara, if it seems that it needs it).
  • Curl eyelashes with an eyelash curler before applying the Younique products.

I have noticed that when I don't use the Younique gel and fibers, I don't get as bold of eyes as I do when I use them. The process for applying Younique seems long and difficult, but really, it isn't! Try it once and you'll know the hang of it. I wear contacts and I have not had a problem with the fibers bothering my eyes. That was my number one concern and I'm glad to say that they don't bother my eyes! *Remember to add the FIBERS only to the tips (NOT at the base, by your eyelids) for the best results. This also helps because the fibers don't get as close to the eyes.*

I wouldn't exactly reach for the Younique products on an early morning while rushing to get ready for school, but when I have an afternoon or evening event, this mascara is perfect.

 *These are my own opinions.
I wrote of my own ideas of these products
and received the Younique mascara
 in exchange for a review.
